Rick Terrell, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Terrell founded RS Medical in 1990 and Meagan Medical Inc. in 2003. He serves as Chairman of the Board and CEO of both Companies. RS Medical reached peak revenue of $122M. Prior to RS Medical Mr. Terrell founded Microware Distributors, Inc., a personal computer distribution company with peak sales of $288M, which twice was honored by Inc. Magazine as among the fastest growing companies in America. Prior to that he and his brother formed Byte Shops of the Pacific Northwest and eventually sold that business to PacTel Information Systems. Rick earned a degree in Business Administration/Accounting from Oregon State University with a minor in computer science. He is a member of various boards including PeaceHealth Southwest, The Foundation Board, and a lifetime member of the Cascade Society.
Bill Carroll, Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer
Mr. Carroll has more than 38 years of experience in the medical device field, including regulatory, research, product development, marketing, and sales distribution. He has been a key individual in product and market development for Medtronic, EMPI, Greenleaf Medical Systems, NeuroMotion, Inc, and RS Medical. Mr. Carroll’s area of interest is in electrical stimulation of living tissues. He has co-authored numerous papers, protocols, and guidelines in this field. He holds 13 issued U.S. Patents and has 6 patent applications pending. Mr. Carroll is on the Board of Directors of Oregon Biosciences Association, Meagan Medical and Oregon Translational Research and Development.
Thomas Yearwood, MD, PhD, Chief Medical Officer
Thomas Yearwood, MD, PhD, is an interventional Pain Medicine specialist and world renowned thought leader in spinal cord stimulation and other implantable neuromodulation devices. He has published book chapters and original research papers in neurostimulation, and has been involved in numerous medical device clinical trials. He is a noted speaker for neurostimulation, and has been a consultant for medical device manufacturers for over 20 years. Dr. Yearwood has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Biomechanics) and is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He has a major pain management center with four offices in the Mobile, Alabama area, where he implants SCS systems as a primary therapy. Dr. Yearwood was instrumental in helping Meagan Medical secure the SCS-IFC patent.
Jud Carlson, Vice President of Business Development
Jud Carlson has spent over 20 years in the SCS market, first as Director of Marketing for Medtronic in the early formation of their SCS division; and then as VP, Sales & Marketing, then President for ANS in the 90’s, where he pioneered the development and marketing of dual-octapolar systems and built the global sales force for ANS. Jud has ten+ years of CEO experience for three startups, responsible for global sales development; helped build Advanced Neuromodulation Systems from its start to a $120 million leader in implantable spinal pain control devices; 20+ years in the development and marketing of external and implantable neuromodulation systems at Medtronic, ANS & Chattanooga. Jud spearheaded the raise of over $50 million in startup capital, established multiple worldwide distribution systems, and developed a network of business contacts with leading venture capital firms, key opinion leading MD’s, specialized medical product distributors, and key resources worldwide.
Robert Athy, Director of Quality and Regulatory
Mr. Athy has more than 35 years of experience as an auditor, consultant, attorney and executive in a variety of industries. Mr. Athy previously served as Director of Quality Assurance and Management Representative for a pharmaceutical repackaging company.
